Below are just a few of the many great arts events happening in the next few weeks. These all present great opportunities to get some holiday shopping done and support local artists.

Craftland

Craftland

An annual holiday sale that celebrates all kinds of handmade objects and the people who make them. This year Craftland will open its doors at 70 Eddy Street, Providence, RI on Friday December 1, 2006, and will be open until December 23.

Craftland is open five days a week, Wednesday-Sunday 11am-6pm, and Thursdays 11am-8pm December 1st-23rd!

It’s Not So Big, It’s Not So Pricey

December 7-31, Every Thursday, Friday, and Saturday from 4pm-7pm, Peerless Building, 235 Westminster Street, It’s Not So Big, Not So Pricey features regional artists with each piece no more than $300 and no larger than 20″ x 24″. For more information click here.

Olneyville Holiday Art

December 9, 10am-4pm, Rising Sun Mills, Bldg. 3L, 166 Valley Street, Come shop for unique art and collectibles presented by local artists. Free parking available. For more information call 574-2160.

Millcraft @ Monohasset Mill

Opening Reception: December 15 from 6pm-10pm, Holiday Sale Hours: December 16 from 12pm-8pm, December 17 from 12pm-6pm, Monohasset Mill, 532 Kinsley Avenue, Providence. Artists from the Monohasset Mill project join together once again with artists from The Steel Yard to put on millcraft, a holiday craft extravaganza. Approximately 25 artists will be selling their wares, including ceramics, jewelry, accessories, apparel, painting, sculpture, fine prints and stocking stuffer items. For more information click here.

RISD Student Art Sale

December 2, 10am-4pm 30 Waterman Street, Upper Met.

Come and see the creative force of RISD students from all departments. The sale features work from what will be regarded as the “early period” of these budding artists. The prices are affordable and every sale encourages and supports RISD students in their work. The sale will be held at the upper Met and last from 10am-4pm. So come early to get the good buys!

Wayland Square Stroll

December 1-3, Wayland Square, Wayland Avenue and Angel Street, Weekend activites and events include Carolers, Hot Cider and Food Carts, Holiday Lights, and Great Holiday Shopping for the Whole Family. Wayland Square merchants will also be collecting holiday gifts for deployed troops.

Celebrate the Holidays Downtown

December 8, 15, & 22, 5:30pm-9pm, Downtown Providence, The holiday celebration showcases the arts, culture, residential and retail opportunities in the Downcity neighborhood. Visitors will also be offered horse drawn carriage rides sponsored by the Shoppes on Westminster, entertainment, late night shopping and more. For more information click here.

RISD Alumni Holiday Art Sale

Alumni Sales feature thousands of items designed and created by RISD alumni who travel from all over New England and the Mid-Atlantic states, and from as far away as Texas and California. Items for sale range from greeting cards to fine art as well as home accessories, jewelry, ceramics, glass, furniture, rugs, clothing, and photography.
