VOTE!

Yes, yes, we don’t live in Ohio so what does it matter? And if like me, you live on Federal Hill, then both your State Senate and State Representative seats are uncontested. But you still need to vote! It is your duty and it is fun, no honestly connecting the two lines with that marker… fun stuff!

There are ballot questions on transportation and open space, and while GC:PVD does not make endorsements, we’d sure like to see the intermodal station at T.F. Green get built…

Some resources for you to vote in Rhode Island:

RI Secretary of State Voter Information Center. Plug in your information and you will be presented with a sample ballot and a map to your voting place. My voting place seems to change every election cycle, so check to see where yours is to ensure you go to the right place on Tuesday.

Did you forget to register? Well SHAME ON YOU! But you can still vote, at least for the Presidential election. If you are eligible to vote but neglected to register you can still vote for President and Vice President by obtaining a “Same Day” ballot. In most cities and towns you simply go to your Town or City Hall with proper identification, in Providence you need to go to the Dunkin Donuts Center (are they expecting a lot of people in Providence to need same day ballots?). Go here to see where to go for “Same Day” ballots.

If you suddenly realize you will be out of town and unable to reach your polling place on Tuesday, you can get an Emergency Ballot. Simply go to your Town or City Hall to fill out an Emergency Ballot, this is only for people who are registered to vote, but cannot reach their designated polling place on Tuesday.

And if you do know someone in Ohio or Indiana or Florida or Colorado or… who might need a reminder that Tuesday is election day, remind them!
