Jef Darling, if you had been reading The Providence Daily Dose you would have learned all about the nomination process. We will report on our victory as soon as the results are in. Beth

I never even realized there was a nomination process.

The caps in the name are probably from the fact that Providence is in caps in the logo. It's a style thing more than a how it should be written thing, but I can understand why someone would reproduce it in caps.

What places have won around PC? I can understand Tommy's Pizza (close, but not frequented by PC students) and LaSalle Bakery (because it's really good), but have never really seen many others. Patrick's Pub was on there this year, but it's really only visited by the older PC students, and not regularly. PC doesn't even get the Phoenix on campus (something about the classifieds section not being in line with Catholicism).

Most of the other places are very East Side and, yes, many aren't even in PVD (I was surprised Track 84 didn't make it in the Best Beer Selection category).

I actually nominated GC:PVD for best blog (nominations were like a month ago I think). Apparently others did as well. Some of the other places I nominated (Bombay Club for one) didn't make the cut.

Odd how they capitalized Providence in the GCPVD name...

I wonder how the nominations for the categories were chosen. Some aren't East Side focused, but are all over the place (most "Best Bagel" nominations aren't even in PVD, but places like Smithfield, Warwick, etc).

In the past, many winners have actually betrayed a possible strong PC student voting block, with many of the champions (pizza, bakery, bars, etc) being in orbit of the PC campus.

In voting this morning, I noticed something that really bothered me. The whole thing is so East Side centric. How can they have a vote for best Indian restaurant and not even have Bombay Club in the running?
