Yurdin, Narducci Work on Shoveling

The Brown Daily News reports that Councilmen Seth Yurdin and Nicholas Narducci, Jr. are working on efforts to both increase awareness of shoveling ordinances and refashion the current one to give it more teeth (and a bigger fine). The article (which, befitting the BDN, is somewhat College Hill-centric) reports that complaints have been up this year and that, when police act to let property owners know about the situation, it’s generally rectified. All of these measures sound like good ideas but, of course, it’s all about enforcement. Read more here.

  • I’ve had little birdies tell me when they call the city to complain they are told why bother. No one pays the fine anyway. Basically, the city has better things to worry about and the caller is being annoying by lodging the complaint.

Of course, none of those birdies had 02906 ZIP codes.
