Hi folks!

Well, our website is back up, though it’s been through quite a week. Starting on Monday, we noticed our site had been hacked and our homepage replaced. Fortunately, we caught it fast enough to prevent further destruction from happening, or so we thought.

At the same time, our server host was experiencing hardware failures. This caused extreme frustration on our part as we were trying to simultaneously find any other vulnerabilities in our site.

We’ve been working with our host, now that they seem to be stable again, to make sure our site is safe for all. However, since a vulnerability was detected from earlier this week, Google has restricted some traffic to our site.

What does this mean? It means that some of you might not be able to get to our site for the next couple days, depending on what browser you are using (Safari Beta 4 and Safari on the iPod Touch and iPhone seem to be redirecting or issuing a warning on the site depending on your security settings).

We’ve contacted Google and asked them to reevaluate our site, and hopefully they’ll give us a good report in the next few days. So in the meantime, if you can’t get to http://gcpvd.org hang tight, and check out our Facebook Group for status updates. (Our RSS feeds seem to be working just fine!)

Also, if you do see anything suspicious on our site, please do not hesitate to email us.

Thanks!

  • Unfortunately I am still getting the warning, but it says this:

This site is not currently listed as suspicious.

Uhm, annoying! My Safari preferences say that the Google Stats have not been updated in 10 days, but I don’t know how to get an update from Google for Safari.

    Annoying!
