New Sakonnet River Bridge by 2012?

WPRI reports that the state plans a groundbreaking ceremony for the new Sakonnet River Bridge on Friday, April 24th. The state has awarded the $163.7 million contract to Cardi Corporation (is there anyone else who builds roads in RI?). The new bridge is scheduled for completion in 2012, however there is an incentive in the contract for early completion.

A RIDOT video about the Sakonnet River Bridge project can be found here.

Now, we need to get the rail bridge rebuilt so we can run trains out onto the island.
