Gourmet Heaven Grand Opening

Proprietor, Mr. Cho, welcomes us to his new store

Gourmet Heaven opened today on Weybosset Street Downcity with many dignitaries, Downcity residents, press, and passersby in attendance. After Buff Chase said a few words and thanked everyone who made it possible, the ribbon was cut and we headed inside.

Inside the store is very nice with wooden cabinets, glass coolers, a large deli counter, and a prepared food section (the interior work was done by Site Specific, LLC and the architect was Durkee, Brown, Viveiros & Werenfels Architects both of Providence).

Prices seem quite reasonable, surprisingly so for it’s Downcity location. I’m planning to head back at lunchtime to grab a sandwich.

  1. Yay! I’m so happy to hear that it’s not as expensive as I thought it would be. Now I can walk downtown from Broadway to get groceries instead of hauling ass in my car all the way to the stop and shop on Branch Ave!

  2. Wait, but they don’t have unprepared poultry, beef or seafood??? So, I still have to go to Whole Foods?

  3. That fresh fruit looked pretty good, though.

They are supposed to have produce right outside, which will look so nice in the summer. They didn’t have that all set up today though.

  5. Great to see them open, although it’s too bad they do this as the J&W students across the street have finished their academic year…

  6. NICE, BUT TOOOOOO EXPENSIVO

  7. Dont waste your money! the breakfast is horrible, the eggs will not be cooked the way you ask there wont be any butter on the bread and you will still be hungry and out of $5 waste of time. disgusting pothetic excuse for breakfast food
