Rhode Island Pride moves back to Station Park this year after two years in Kennedy Plaza and Burnside Park. I’m glad it’s moving back to Station Park, I think there were just too many people for Kennedy Plaza and Burnside Park to handle. There’s also something very symbolic about having the event across from the State House, especially this year (but I won’t get too political here).
The festival kicks off at noon and runs into the evening. You’ll find me in the Beer Garden. If you need more incentive than a Beer Garden to attend, well hold onto your hats, Debbie (I can’t call her Deborah) Gibson is headlining. Debbie is scheduled to go on at 7:45pm, but I also highly recommend catching local Becky Chace at 5:40pm (all times are Gay Standard Time).
After the Festival the Illuminated Night Pride Parade kicks off from Station Park at 8:30pm working it’s way through Downcity and past the reviewing stand at PPAC.

It rains pretty much every Pride. I can count on one hand the number of times we’ve had clear weather for Pride.
One thing that irks me about the night time parade though, if you’re going to call it an illuminate parade then use some light damn it.
I still have to process the video I shot of the parade. And wouldn’t you know I got interrupted when Mr. Dominican Flag came by. Damn! He was cute.
