I saw this the other day when I was down near Price Rite. I was wondering what was going on.
Hmm…Certainly has the potential to be a creative development, one that could bring positive recognition and attention. Two questions I have is, how to you insulate it and how will it interact with the street? I’d like to see the entrances be in Harris Avenue rather than the side of the containers as it currently looks. Also, can retail businesses use it?
I had similar questions to Aaron… Can’t wait to see how it turns out…
As far as insulation, if you visit the “Green” page on their website, they explain how this building is energy efficient. I’m not clear exactly from reading that, aside from the high quality windows, how it will be insulated, but they claim that the building will be highly energy efficient.
As for street interaction, the renderings on their site do indeed show a side entrance, but this is the street elevation:
I’m curious to see what become of that space under the bridge, I imagine some sort of garden, but it is unclear if you’ll be able to walk from the sidewalk into that area or not.
The north side of the building (facing Eagle Square) appears to be set to be parking for now. But I hope they draw new development to the area and that north side parking ends up being a temporary condition. This building is pretty much right up against the train tracks. But the further north you go, there is more room between the tracks and any future building that could be built against the street.
Check out this time lapse movie of the box office, it looks really cool.
