RIDOT will be closing Chestnut Street at the old Route 195 overpass between June 15th and 29th for removal of the bridge.
Photo by Jef Nickerson This sign went up yesterday at the parking lot under Route 195 at Chestnut Street. Kicking the parked cars out is a sign of the highway coming down soon (Yay!). Not sure if the other overpasses...
Oh I can’t wait for that hideous, pigeon waste encrusted abomination to be fully “urban planned” into non-existence.
Close your eyes and it sounds like you are in peaceful zen garden…ok not really.
Jef, any idea why the Wickenden Street demolition is taking so much longer than even the revised estimate? The anticipation is killing me, and the thought of the rest of the demolition taking a similarly long time is disheartening.
I’ve heard several reasons for delays at Wickenden.
Weather
Sorting of materials for recycling taking longer than expected
Needing to restrict hours due to proximity of residences
Needing to keep traffic flowing on Wickenden
The Wickenden work is a separate bid from the rest, so the company doing this may not be thr company working on the rest.
Had no idea about the separate bid — that’s reassuring. Thanks, Jef.
The falls were running fast this morning.
