Clean Day on the Greenway!

April 24, 2010 – 9:30am
Location: Riverside Park

Recent flooding in Rhode Island has forced people from their homes, eroded river banks and left a mess in its wake. Join us as we come together on Saturday, April 24th to take back the Greenway! Clean Day on the Greenway is a day of service along the Fred Lippitt Woonasquatucket River Greenway in Johnston and Providence. Last year, this event brought almost 700 volunteers out to the Greenway and we got a ton of work done!

Registration for Clean Day on the Greenway will be at Riverside Mills on Aleppo Street in Providence at 9:30am, with service activities running from 10:00am until 2:00pm. At 2:00 there will be an appreciation lunch and celebration. Every volunteer will receive lunch and a free t-shirt.

WaterFire Earth Day Clean-Up

WaterFire Providence invites all of our friends in the community to join us at the river for a pre-season Earth Day clean-up!

Please join us on Saturday, April 24: 10am-4pm

There is a lot of ground (and river!) to cover in Waterplace Park- so gather your friends, brooms, gloves and sunscreen, and spend some time with us out in the springtime sunshine! We’re gathering volunteers to spruce up the paths and walkways of this beloved public space and rid our rivers of the tires, barrels, chairs and general bits of detritus that have accumulated since last season.

Please contact WaterFire’s Volunteer Coordinator Allison Montagnon or 401.273.1155 x170 – to sign up and participate in this great community building initiative!

  • Elmhurst Clean Up

Next Saturday, April 24 we are holding our annual Earth Day event in conjunction with PC’s Service Day. We are very pleased that along with PC students we will be joined by a group of JWU students. All volunteers are welcome – come for as long as you can – even an hour will help!

9:00 am – Meet at Davis Park. Coffee and snack provided.
9:15 am – Register, get assignment and t-shirt (first 125 volunteers).
10: 00 am – With ‘group leaders’, depart to project location
12:00 noon – Finish up. Lunch will be provided at Davis Park.

Our projects include painting the concession stand, bleachers and benches, and cleaning up Davis Park and cleaning certain areas of Elmhurst and Smith Hill. Unfortunately we cannot complete the tasks that we had scheduled for Fargnoli Park as it is opening day for baseball, but hope to do so in the near future.

Come join in the fun and community spirit and help make our neighborhoods a better place to live and work! If you have any questions, feel free to ‘Contact Us’ through our web site. See you at the Park!
