Sidewalk work

Sidewalk work has been taking place the last few weeks up and down Atwells Avenue. Replacing loose/missing bricks and laying stamped concrete at parking lot ramps.

The city got stimulus money for sidewalk repairs, are repairs taking place in your neighborhood?

  • I don’t think they’ll ever repair the sidewalks in my neighborhood. They’re not in what I would consider a “high priority” neighborhood, which is why they’re doing Federal Hill. I’m sure they’ll do the East Side. Maybe even other parts of Elmhurst where there is more money. My street is too close to Chalkstone for them to care about it.

Also, why stimulus money for sidewalks and why replace sidewalks that don’t necessarily need it? Dean Street needed to be repaired more than the sidewalks along it.

  • Not surprising that Federal Hill is first on the list for repairs, needed or not. That’s where most local politicians spend their campaign finance funds… restaurants.
