Greater City Providence

Earl, Earl, Earl

I can’t stop reading Fred Campagna’s Tweets, I’m obsessed with Earl!

Earl appears to be strengthening this evening. I think it will be 145 mph at 11pm, and it wouldn’t shock me if it was a Cat. 5.less than a minute ago via TweetDeck

Cat. 5! Surely we’ll all die. We’re under a freaking Tropical Storm Watch here people! Buy Beer!

Seriously though, a hurricane is nothing to sniff at. I was living on the Cape during Bob, and we had no power for 2 weeks and no cable for a month, A MONTH! Even if Earl is a 3 or 4 when it reaches here, it is still forecast to pass southeast of Nantucket, so we won’t feel the brunt (likely). But I’m still stocking up tomorrow if the forecast holds and preparing to sit in the dark and hope the swaying of my house doesn’t give me motion sickness.

ABC 6 has all the info you need for preparing for a hurricane.

When it does pass and it is safe to venture out, we need you to share your storm photos in our Flickr Group. Just share your photos with the Group and we’ll post them here! Videos are cool too, we like videos!

The Dixie Chicks song at the top was the only “Earl” song I could think of. Gloria was a much better hurricane name, Laura Branigan, U2…
