What’s the story behind Earl? Please elaborate.
Earl was a hurricane that almost hit us then moved out to sea.
The weather was pretty nasty in Newport during the overnight hours. Downpours, wind, etc. The surf was great on the ocean-facing boundaries of Newport while the harbor was much calmer. Anywhere along Cliff Walk, the waves were huge! Even the surfers abandoned any thoughts of riding one out – just too dangerous. I shot my photos mainly from Ochre Point at The Breakers, but had I ventured down Cliff Walk, I’m sure the sight was amazing at Rough Point or even at Gull Rock.
