Providence Children’s Museum Celebrates National Engineers Week

Providence Children’s Museum offers a series of special activities in celebration of National Engineers Week (February 20 – 26). Explore fun hands-on building and engineering challenges and more!

  • Be An Engineer
    Saturday, February 19
    11:00 AM – 2:00 PM
    Kids investigate the world of engineering at five hands-on activity stations with members of the Society of Women Engineers. Experiment with electrical conductivity and discover how well different materials conduct; mix up gooey oobleck to learn about the properties of liquids and solids; investigate the power of pulley systems; and more! Families can also browse a display of books on engineering and technology. Ages 5 – 11

  • Block Builders
    Wednesday, February 23 and Friday, February 25
    10:00 AM – 4:00 PM
    Experiment with building challenges using an array of blocks of all shapes and sizes! Kids engineer giant towers, construct cities and build bridges. Ages 3 – 11
  • Young Engineers
    Saturday, February 26
    11:00 AM – 2:00 PM
    Meet civil engineers and try challenges to learn how they plan roads, buildings and bridges. Create structures using marshmallows and toothpicks, figure out how to stabilize a tall tower, build penny bridges, and more. Ages 5 – 11

Providence Children’s Museum – play is powerful! The Museum is located at 100 South Street in Providence’s Jewelry District. September through March, open Tuesday through Sunday and Monday school holidays, 9 AM to 6 PM, and selected Fridays until 8 PM. April through August, open 7 days. Unless indicated, programs are free with Museum admission of $8.50 per person; admission is always free for Museum members. Call (401) 273-KIDS or visit childrenmuseum.org.
