Wharf Clothing & Wares is moving into the space where Design Within Reach used to be on Westminster Street at Eddy Street. Wharf currently operates a shop in Warwick and may or may not keep that shop open once the Providence location is complete, according to a posting on their blog (the link above).
This fencing has started going up on Weybosset Street at PPAC Square, creating a pedestrian sewer. Certainly it is a necessary part of construction, but it is still annoying. I’m sure Saki’s, which just reopened after a very long renovation process is just tickled pink.
There’s not too many retailers to support on Weybosset Street, but the ones there are I’m sure would appreciate our support during the construction process.
Oh, and something really needs to be done about the parking garage entrance. Now that the construction has created a driveway of sorts between the entrance and the part of Weybosset that is still open, for some reason people see that as an invitation to speed as fast as they can in and out of the garage, across the pedestrian sewer. I almost got hit twice.

The sidewalk is narrow as well. Once construction starts Weybosset will be even more of a mess between the JWU buses, RIPTA,and the cars it will likely be a giant parking lot.
