Last night’s forum was well attended (probably 100+ in the crowd) and a lively discussion on the issues.

Better Providence video’d the event, we’ll have that for you as soon as it is available online, for now, coverage from local media:

This post will be updated as more information is available.

  • I believe Edith Ajello was the only State Rep. in attendance. Chris Blazejewski wanted to attend but was out of town.

  • Thank you The Spot (for hosting), GoLocalprov.com, gcpvd.org, Common Cause, Kate Bramson, Bill Rappleye and all concerned citizens of Providence and Rhode Island.

The more eyes on this process, the more constructive and considered opinions, suggestions and recommendations the better.

  • Hi Jef and co!

Thanks to Greater City PVD for co-sponsoring and participating in Monday’s Forum!

Part 1 of the video is posted on the Better Providence facebook page and I will be posting Part 2 today.

Yes, Rep. Edie Ajello attended; Rep. Blazejewski really wanted to attend, but could not and sent his regrets; Councilman Luis Aponte and Councilman Seth Yurdin were the only 2 PVD councilmembers in attendance, although Councilman Sam Zurier did respond to our invitation and sent his regrets.

A number of elected officials sent their staff along to take notes: Spotted in the audience: House Speaker Gordon Fox’s policy director, Beth Cotter; Governor Chafee’s Communications Director, Mike Trainor; and Steve Iannazzi from the Senate Majority Leader’s Office.

  • Yes, in terms of attendance there were definitely over 100 people. 109 people signed in on our sign-in sheet at the entrance to the forum, and my estimate is that at least 20 more people came in and did not sign in.
