Tonight, is the Super Celebration Bash for Craftland’s 10th Annual Craftland Show. Starting at 5pm at 235 Westminster Street, Downcity.
Craftland shoppers will find an expanded store filled-to-the-brim with thousands of thoughtfully made items from handmade housewares and masterfully-crafted handbags, to adorable stuffed animals, cozy crocheted and knitted goods, one-of-a-kind art pieces, beautiful books, clothing, and our now-famous print wall, featuring dozens of screen printed pieces in a variety of prices and sizes. With prices from $1 to $300, there are handmade goodies for every budget.
Down the block OneWay Gallery is having their Holiday Reception. 231 Westminster Street, Downcity, starting at 6pm.

Downcity this winter – locally made crafts, foodstuffs, decorations, and more. Saturdays, 11am to 4pm from Thanksgiving weekend to 12/17.
Providence Preservation Society hosts a Benefit Street Holiday Saturday starting at 9am.
The Providence Preservation Society presents A Benefit Street Holiday, a family-friendly day-long Holiday Festival launching the festive season of shopping, celebrations and homecomings in Providence. Guests will be treated to a personal glimpse of select Benefit Street houses, dressed up with holiday exuberance.
Tour-goers will learn about this nationally significant collection of 18th-and 19th-century architecture from teams of trained volunteers at each house, and will find decorating ideas to incorporate into their own homes. This year’s Festival will also feature guided walking tours and educational lectures. The historic Hope Club will open its splendid interiors to the public as the headquarters of this day of celebration, tradition and learning.PPS has added a Family Day ticket to the Holiday Festival which includes storytelling by the acclaimed Len Cabral; gingerbread house decorating; a visit from the Snow Queen; a pet parade; carriage rides; and a parade to light the City Christmas tree.
Ticket holders will also be admitted to the following lectures and tours by showing their guidebooks:
- “The Victorians: Providence at the Turn of the 19th Century,” a lecture by PPS Executive Director James Brayton Hall
- “A Model of Respectability,” a lecture on the architecture and history of the First Baptist Church by Stan Lemons, Church Historian and Professor Emeritus of History, Rhode Island College
- Free admission to the John Brown House
The PPS events culminate with a parade down College Hill to Kennedy Plaza where the Providence Tree Lighting festivities will take place:
Mayor Angel Taveras and the Providence Preservation Society (PPS) host the annual City of Providence Tree Lighting festivities on Saturday, December 3 at 6PM, inviting families and residents to kick off the festive season of shopping and homecomings in the state capital.
The celebration is the culmination of a day-long family event and tour of historic houses on Benefit Street, and includes a parade to the Bank of America Skating Center, beginning at 5:45PM from the corner of Meeting and Benefit Streets led by the 2nd Rhode Island Regiment Fife and Drum Corp, celebrity host Michaela Johnson from Fox News’ Rhode Show, and Lite Rock 105. Performances by vocalist groups Voices of Christmas and RPM Voices will join the festivities, and the Snow Queen will grant children’s wishes. The Providence Daily Deal Holiday Bus tour will also end in Kennedy Plaza prior to the festivities and the Hot 8 Brass Band, a performance provided by Fete.
Mayor Taveras will deliver brief welcoming remarks, lead a moment of silence for the men and women of the US Armed Services who have lost their lives defending our country this year, and lead the countdown for the lighting of the 20-foot blue spruce at the skating rink donated by Elaine Stimson of Johnston, and the 45-foot Norway spruce in front of City Hall donated by Joe and Diane Ferro of Johnston. Thanks also to Stanley Tree Service for donating its crane services to lift the tree into place.
