Of course, I had no doubt, even though they are not open, and not required to do so, per usual, Angelo’s sidewalk is clear. It always is, it is like the sunrise, you know it will happen. This is an example of being a good neighbor and a good business person. This simple act creates amazing goodwill from me for Angelo’s.
Up the block, The Old Canteen has been really good with the few snowfalls we’ve had this winter. That plow pulling out of the lot, the driver of that plow is the one who shoveled the sidewalk, I watched him finish up, put his shovel in his truck, and leave. Old Canteen obviously has an arrangement for both their parking lot and their sidewalks to be clear; satisfying the needs of their customers in cars and on foot obviously makes good business sense.
Also, per always, Providence Housing Authority staff clearing the sidewalks around Dominica Manor.
Free Wickford Junction Wednesdays don’t start until next week, but that doesn’t mean one could not pay to ride the train today. Of course then one could not arrive at work late and complain about traffic and how the plows can’t magically make snow that is still falling disappear.
The parking lot at the Old Circular Gas Station Memorial Parking Lot™ is plowed, the sidewalks around it are not cleared. Apparently their customers have some special powers of levitation or teleportation to get from their parked cars to their final destinations.
And of course, the Yellow Jackets are out in force Downcity, YAY!
The express #14 bus from Newport, which usually take 50-minutes, took 1-hour, 45-minutes today!
The city did a pretty terrible job plowing this morning. Sure, the snow was still falling, but I was out at 6:30 when there was no traffic and the roads were covered in snow. They could have prevented the snow from piling up by getting plows out earlier. I saw the trolley stuck trying to get up Atwells.
I left my house on Cumberland St. at 6:45 this morning. Thanks in part to a RIPTA bus jackknifed across Admiral St, it took me until 8:00 to get to my office in Warwick… It looked like none of the roads had been touched by a plow or a grain of sand or salt. Kudos to Angelos, once again!
I complained to the city about St John’s Park on Atwells, nine days after the last storm, when it was still treacherous. I’m hoping to get a reply before next winter but nothing as of yet.
I’m the one who emailed then Councilor Lombardi that the overpass sidewalks over I-95 needed to be cleared. I passed the message on to current Councilor Principe. Last snow storm I was shocked to see they’d been both cleared and sanded. Amazing. This is on both Broadway and Atwells.
