That headline was pretty good, it was a “driver” who hit the boy. But then…
Police in Newport are looking for a hit-and-run driver whose sport utility vehicle struck an 11-year-old boy crossing a street.
It wasn’t the driver, it was the driver’s SUV that hit the boy, actually, no it wasn’t, it was the driver, let us rewrite that for you:
Police in Newport are looking for a hit-and-run driver an SUV who struck an 11-year-old boy crossing a street.
Police say a man driving a brown or gold SUV southbound on Kay Street drove away without stopping after hitting the boy. Better descriptions of the man and the vehicle weren’t released.
Please contact Newport Police if you have any information.
[box style=”alert”]Update: WPRI reports that the driver has been located:[/alert]It was first reported the vehicle struck an 11-year old boy crossing the street. Upon investigation, police concluded the child actually ran into the vehicle. No charges have been filed at this time.
Regardless of if the child was struck while crossing or ran out in front of the driver, the driver still fled the scene where an injured child with no pants on was left in the street. There’s no charge for that?
