To consider and act upon such matters as may be considered at a meeting closed to the public pursuant to Rhode Island General Laws, Section 42-46-5(a) (the Open Meetings Law), specifically matters permitted to be so considered under subsection (5) (acquisition and disposition of public property).
I like that there is talk about programs at these spaces and it made me think about street performers and interactive art. Why are there not more street performers around our city? I mean, there will be some at Waterfire and once in awhile in union station or Thayer st, but in general a lot less than other cities. I love walking around other cities and seeing a magic show, or a saxophone player playing an impromptu performance. Is there a reason?
And, I was just in Garden City recently and there was an interactive art display for kids in the middle of it. I’d love to see these all around downtown – those draw people and kids in and make walking around a much better experience.
What’s the root cause? Permits, culture, not enough tourists…?
