  • Why an extended stay hotel? In my experiences traveling frequently for business, this format of hotel always is the dirtiest and least maintained.

What we need is a cosmopolitan hotel with 24/7 luxuries and amentities. There is so much opportunity to create spaces that can view WaterFire and other events on the canal. A restaurant located directly across from the canal has the potential to do very well, it will get the hotel and room service business, as well as the event crowds.

I want to drive on Memorial and see a beautiful stone/brick structure on the ground levels that can be in the same architectural class of the neighboring buildings (like the old court house), but the upper floors being more modern in design. NanaWalls on the ground level, opening the lobby and restaurant to the street would bridge the road and add a more pedestrian friendly feel.

Are there any plans to have residences at this hotel? I am not familiar with any extended stay hotels that have residences… but I am not an expert.

  • Agreed with KCB, the location and viewsheds of this site may be the best in the city when considering the view of downtown, the rover/waterfire and college hill and should be one hell of a design.
