  • The bike/pedestrian bridge on the old I-195 piers may be in jeopardy according to the 6/20 projo which says RIDOT is “re-evaluating” building it. This is even though over $1 million has already been spent on its design, it is programmed for construction in the current TIP, and it seems central to redeveloping the I-195 lands and to building more of a bicycle/pedestrian culture in Providence. I hope this I-195 Redevelopment Commission will push back against any attempt to cancel the bridge.

There was no indication RIDOT was “re-evaluating” its decision to spend an additional $50 million or so to widen the northbound I-95 Viaduct when they get to it, a decision that unlike the bike/ped bridge, was made with no public input.
