WPRI: Pedestrian hurt, driver arrested in Scituate hit-and-run

walkinpvd-iconState and local police have cleared the scene of a hit-and-run that has left a man fighting for his life.

Police said the man was rushed to Rhode Island Hospital with serious injuries after he was struck on Hope Furnace Road in Scituate.

A Verizon employee said he and a group of his coworkers were completing their routine door-knocks when one coworker was grazed by a vehicle, and a second – a man in his 20s – was directly hit.

Update

Scituate Police Chief Col. David M. Randall said Jaclyn Silvia, 25, is charged with a felony count of leaving the scene of an accident resulting in serious bodily injury. She was arraigned by Justice of the Peace Daniel Connors and released on $10,000 personal recognizance.
