Jane’s Walk Providence – May 6-8, 2016

Press Release:

Twelve Citizen-Led Neighborhood Tours Planned in Providence
During the 10th Annual Jane’s Walk Global Weekend Festival: May 6-8

janes-walk-10Get to know some of Providence’s lesser known pockets during Jane’s Walk, a global weekend festival inspired by urban activist Jane Jacobs, on Friday, May 6th, Saturday, May 7th, and Sunday, May 8th. Last year, Providence was one of 189 participating cities in 36 countries around the world, and we expect that number to grow. 2016 is a special year, as we celebrate the 10th year of the Jane’s Walk festival and what would have been Jane Jacobs’ 100th birthday.

Unlike typical guided tours, these free walks are led by volunteer citizen guides who share knowledge of their own communities with others. Through open conversations that get tour-goers thinking, talking, and connecting, Jane’s Walks engage people in a democratic city planning process. Participants should wear comfortable shoes, find their leaders in their designated meeting spots, and be ready for lively discussions while on the move.

The following Providence tours are currently scheduled, with meeting locations and other details listed at: janeswalk.org
