I fixed the download links here, you should be able to download the plans. The results are on the city's planning department website somewhere, but the link I used seems to be resolving to the homepage.

I can't find the plans anywhere! The links for PDFs for both winners are dead and a search at the Planning website turns up nothing. Has this stuff been removed?

I'm all for it :) I strongly believe we need to expand downtown. Downtown sits on such a small footprint. As for the building itself, I think it's a little too square and bleak, they need to add more design to it and fit in with the italian architecture, though I do approve of the height. I love skyscrapers. The CCC is only stunting the city's growth by adding height regulations. People are too obsessed about wanting to keep Providence a small city, but don't they understand that large major cities attract more tourist? Providence is too overlooked, it's time that it made of on the list of the top 100 largest cities in America.

This is a waste of tax dollars! He cannot even adequately fund the Fire Dept.

Did you know that all of our fire engines will be staffed at 3 rather than 4, the NFPA standard. If this bothers you, join our group by send an email to provpublicsafety@gmail.com

Ashley,
The Sierra Suites has rebranded itself as Hotel Sierra and is no longer an extended stay property. Coincidentally though, Aram Garabedian is also involved in the development of Hotel Sierra.

While in the Hotel Sierra case, we would also have preferred that Beverly Street remain intact for public access (even only as a pedestrian way), the Hotel Sierra has a much better urban form than the Marriott proposal as it stands now. The Hotel Sierra is proposed to be built to the street, has no surface parking, and the design of the building has improved dramatically through the DRC review process.

Hopefully Mr. Garabedian will see to it that Orange Street does not need to be abandoned and that the surface parking at the Residence Inn should only be created as a temporary solution to the hotel's needs, so that GC:PVD can change it's opinion on this project.

No Surface Parking Downtown.

There's no way the abandonment meets the sniff test of "in the public interest."

There are several hotel developments in the works for the city. What is the point of saturation, especially in this economy?
