Greater City Providence

Mayor’s “State of the City” Tonight

dnc-picTonight at 7 PM is Mayor Mayor David Cicilline’s “State of the City” address. It’s at the Rhode Island Convention Center, 5th floor Rotunda. Greater City Providence will be there. Does anyone know if the Convention Center has WiFi? If so, I’ll try to liveblog it…

From the press release:

The Mayor will talk about the City’s response to the difficult economic challenges facing the City and announce a bold initiative designed to help the City and Providence families get through these difficult economic times and emerge as a stronger and more vibrant city.

  • Bret is working on a post on the State of the City right now, I just have one piece of snark I can’t wait to comment on.

30-Securing office space to put city departments under one roof…

Seems like a sensible goal, housing everyone under one roof makes a lot of things easier, it is what Blue Cross Blue Shield is doing right now in Capital Center.

    …with ample parking

Oh! I see, City Hall is moving to Cranston.

Seriously, excuse my mouth, but WHAT THE FUCK!? How about we make city workers take the bus, like city residents? Ample parking? Are you fucking kidding me with this? We’re going to spend money on parking!?
