This Saturday 5/9 from 1-4pm, the Providence Community Boating Center is having their annual open house.

Community Boating Center invites sailors and non-sailors to help kick off the 2009 season with friends, family, and CBC members for a “Discover Sailing” day of family fun on the Providence waterfront. Open to the general public, the waterfront party will run from 1:00 – 4:00 pm with food, fun, free sailing, and more. There is a $5.00 suggested donation at the door with all proceeds benefiting CBC youth sailing.

If you’ve never been to the Community Boating Center, this year is the time to check it out. Located at (the now accessible) India Point Park, the CBC is poised to have a great season with an entirely new fleet of boats!

Where else could you go sailing for an entire season for under $200? Lessons and family membership packages are also available, and with the economy the way it is, this may be one of the best ways to have fun on the cheap this summer. You live in the Ocean State, haven’t you always wanted to learn how to sail?

The Community Boating Center is located at the west end of India Point Park and is accessible from the new India Point Park Bridge bridge.

  • If you sign your kids up for sailing camp this summer, the odds are very good and the little Fry-lette will be one of your kids’ junior instructors. She’s been going to CBC since she was about 8. She <3333 CBC.
