Photos: WaterFire’s New Year’s Eve Venetian Masquerade Party

WaterFire has published some photos from their New Year’s Eve Venetian Masquerade Party. WaterFire heads into it’s 15th season in 2010.

Photos from WaterFire’s New Year’s Eve Venetian Masquerade Party held at the Old Stone Bank Building in Providence, RI featuring performances by Nathan Granner, tenor, and Quixotic Fusion, a music and dance performance group based in Kansas City. The host was Barrett Bready who is renovating the historically important building. Barnaby Evans, the artistic director of WaterFire, has worked with Nathan and Quixotic Fusion for the past three and half years as part of his Kansas City installation of WaterFire.

  • Someone wrote about it on UrbanPlanet (I think) a long time ago, but I can’t find it now. The experience was very different, people didn’t get it. The place where they light it has a big lawn next to the water so people bring blankets and lawn chairs and sit to watch it like it will be some sort of performance. As opposed to it being an experience that you walk through the smoke and become part of it here.
