Thursday, October 7 at the Marriott Courtyard, 32 Exchange Terrace, Providence, RI
Support better biking and walking in Providence, around Rhode Island, & throughout New England, and learn about what’s happening across the region and the country at the first-ever New England Bike-Walk Summit!
With 9 sessions in all, there’s something of interest for all bicycle and pedestrian stakeholders, whether agency staffer, grassroots advocate, or professional in private practice.
The keynote address will be given by Tim Blumenthal, President of Bikes Belong Coalition. Other notable presenters include Jeff Miller (President/CEO, Alliance for Biking & Walking), Dennis Markatos-Soriano (Executive Director, East Coast Greenway Alliance), and representatives of the League of American Bicyclists, Rails-to-Trails Conservancy, the RI Bicycle Coalition, MassBike, Bike Coalition of Maine, Bike-Walk Connecticut, Vermont Bicycle & Pedestrian Coalition, and the Bike-Walk Alliance of New Hampshire. Public agencies represented will include RIDOT, MassDOT, Vermont Agency of Transportation, NHDOT, National Park Service, and numerous regional and municipal government agencies.

The New England Bike-Walk Summit is being organized by the RI-based East Coast Greenway Alliance, the nonprofit organization creating a 3000-mile trail connecting cities from Maine to Florida for bicyclists, walkers, and other non-motorized users.
And the punchline is – The Courtyard is in one of the most-dangerous places in the city of Providence to bicycle!
Looking at the speakers I am beginning to wonder why this is called the bike-walk summit, when there are no walkers on the agenda.
