ROOTS CAFÉ IN DOWNTOWN PROVIDENCE
PRESENTS INAUGURAL EVENTS
FULL SCHEDULE ROLLS OUT IN EARLY SPRING

First Event to Feature the Fabulous Sounds of Louisiana’s Own LEROY THOMAS (JEWEL OF THE BAYOU) AND THE ZYDECO ROADRUNNERS and SWEET P, Rhode Island’s Own Blues Band Extraordinaire

Providence Inner City Arts (PICA) announces a gala opening of The Roots Café, the newest venue in Downtown Providence for live music, unique performances and events. This will be the first event in the new space, which will announce a full calendar of events in the early spring. The headliner will be the great Leroy Thomas and the Zydeco Roadrunners, one of the most exciting zydeco groups in the country. Sweet P, a blues band with roots in Providence, will also take center stage. Cajun-style food and drink will spice up the afternoon. The crowd will be alive with swiveling hips, fancy footwork, spontaneous stylings, and goofy grins. It will be hard to keep your shoes on!

The festivities will take place on Sunday, March 6, 2011 from 2-6pm, 276 Westminster Street, Providence, RI 02903. Tickets are $50 and may be purchased online at RootsCafeProvidence.com, or at the door. All funds raised will support PICA, a not-for-profit community arts organization and its future programs at The Roots Café.

Following the benefit, Leroy Thomas and the Zydeco Roadrunners will perform an additional set, from 7-10. Information on tickets is available at nfo@rootscafeprovidence.com.
