Greater City Providence

Video: Flooding on Point Street this morning

Flooding on Point Street near Davol Square this morning. From Patrick Laverty on Twitter.

While drainage across much of the city is quite terrible, there’s not a lot that infrastructure can do to deal with 1″-2″ of rain in an hour.

  • With the construction of those two huge tunnels under the city this shouldn’t be an issue.

What is the issue is that both the city and the state are IDIOTS when it comes to clearing storm drains. For example, last year – they cleared them just before fall. Stupid, stupid, stupid, stupid!

They should be cleared just after fall. That way all the muck that falls in is cleared.

  • Perhaps an upgrade? Maybe something a little newer than 1790 for drainage systems here?
