Providence Community Library Friends Groups To Host Three Mayoral Forums

Knight Memorial, Rochambeau and Wanskuck Branches Provide Q&A Sessions with Candidates

pcl-mayoral-forumsPROVIDENCE, RHODE ISLAND – Providence Community Library (PCL) will host “Meet the Candidates” forums where candidates for Mayor of Providence will respond to questions about neighborhood issues. Planned for April, May, and June, people will have an opportunity to question all candidates at the sessions and tell them what they think about schools, libraries, safety, jobs and many other issues of concern to their communities.

[alert type=”muted”]The Forums will take place on April 16 at Knight Memorial Library, 275 Elmwood Avenue (401-467-2625); May 22 at Rochambeau Library, 708 Hope Street (401)-272-3780); and on June 12 at Wanskuck Library, 233 Veazie Street(401-274-4145). All forums start at 6:00PM, are sponsored by PCL Friends’ groups and moderated by the League of Women Voters. The Knight Memorial forum will be conducted in both English and Spanish.[/alert]

Deborah Schimberg, president of the Knight Memorial Library Friends, said, “Our community libraries play an important role in the life of Providence, providing programs and services that respond to the needs of the community. Choosing a new mayor is an important decision and we hope these forums will help voters make the right choice.”
