  • They should absolutely deny the request for an extension on the temporary parking lots. The term “interim” should no longer apply once a decade has passed, and this has been how long now? They failed to work something out with Citizens, and there hasn’t been any semblance of a proposal since Park Row West. Ten Park Row? I forget the name right now. Either way, there’s clearly no demonstrated initiative to develop this land, which is in an area that was supposed to be without any surface parking to begin with.

  • David is right. Deny their request and force them to sell to a developer. There isn’t any reason this land can not be utilized for apartment towers. There is a clear shortage of residential units downtown. While they are at it, let’s put a 5 year max law on temporary surface parking. No extensions should be allowed after that. Or, hell, eliminate extensions altogether.

At the head of the river (or the convergence of two rivers), this is where people should live! Since this is practically the staging area for WaterFire, I’d imagine these units would command very high rent.

I was under the impression that Capital Properties controlled these lots with a 100 year lease. Is that incorrect?

  • I believe those lots are being proposed as a possible location for the Intermodal Station, which would be a mixed-use project.

  • That would be a lovely. I’m tired of “interim” being used on the scope as the inevitable heat death of the universe.
