Press release from the Providence Preservation Society:
PPS Announces 2018 Plans for Best of RI Award-Winning Winter Bash Glitz and Glamour: A Speakeasy Affair to Take Place March 3 at ALCO
Providence Preservation Society will hold its Winter Bash fundraiser, a three- time Best of RI award winner, on Saturday, March 3 from 8 p.m.-12 a.m. at ALCO, 317 Iron Horse Way. Now in its 15th year, the themed celebration showcases the potential in old city buildings and forwards the PPS mission to improve Providence through historic preservation and thoughtful design and planning. The Bash was named “Best Local Event-Providence” and “Best Nonprofit Fundraiser-Statewide” by Rhode Island Monthly in 2017.
The 2018 Bash venue, ALCO, was once home to such Industrial Era-giants as Rhode Island Locomotive Works, American Locomotive Works and US Rubber. The event will be held in the final section of ALCO to be rehabilitated as commercial space by The Foundry Associates. The “A Speakeasy Affair” theme pays homage to one of the most bustling of eras in the site’s history. Costumes are optional but encouraged.
