I used to love Jake’s in the Jewelry District and was so sad when it closed. So I was very happy today to see lots of work taking place in at the building today, inside and out. Anyone know the scoop? Is Jake’s coming back? Will there be cheesy fries and Prince on the jukebox?

I don’t have nearly the same affection for Jake’s that you do. It was pretty good but in the last couple years before it closed it had gotten downright miserable. Bad service, stupid cover charges, really downhill on the food, don’t even get me started about it as a lunch spot, etc.
Now, a reboot or make over would be welcome. It is too nice a spot to sit empty.
You’re probably right that my memory is a little too rosy.
I’d be happy for a reboot, as long as their are still cheesy fries and Prince on the jukebox.
Saw a sign today — it’s called “The Apartment” now, and is described as “an american craft beer alehouse”. Opens this Wednesday, Aug 18th. Looks pretty nice, but I don’t get the impression there would be live music there anymore (which is disappointing).
Thanks for the info Ubercore. I think I’ll head over tomorrow to check it out.
