New Business

1. DRC Application No. 17.12: 350 Eddy Street (South Street Landing) – Public Hearing – The subject of the hearing will be an application by the CV Properties LLC, requesting a waiver from Providence Zoning Ordinance Section 1607(E), Freestanding Signs, which prohibits freestanding signs in the D-1 Zone. As per Section 1601(D), the DDRC is authorized to grant a waiver to sign regulations as part of their review and approval (continued from the July 10, 2017 DDRC meeting). The applicant has requested to continue the public hearing to the next DDRC meeting scheduled for September 11, 2017 at 4:45 PM.

2. DRC Application No. 17.27: 100 North Main Street (Elizabeth Building) – Proposal by Vision Properties to replace an existing storefront with a new storefront (east elevation), to remove brick infill and install a new storefront, and to remove a portion of fire escape (south elevation), and to infill (3) windows (north elevation).

3. DRC Application No. 17.35: 191 Washington Street (Majestic Garage) – Proposal by Greg Pennisten to install a permanent wall mural on the west elevation of the garage.

DRC Application No. 16.21: 201 Washington Street (Trinity Repertory Company) – Public Hearing – The subject of the hearing will be an application by Trinity Repertory Company, requesting a waiver from Zoning Ordinance Section 1607(K), Wall Signs, which limits the square footage of wall signs in the D?1 Zone. The applicant is proposing to install a painted wall sign on the north elevation of the building, which exceeds the maximum size allowed.

2. DRC Application No. 16.24: 225 Weybosset Street (Commercial Building) – Proposal by HM Ventures 8 LLC, to replace existing storefronts and doors, and to remove existing fire escapes.

RISCA/RIDOT seek muralist for Route 195 project

The Rhode Island Department of Transportation and the Rhode Island Council on the Arts are seekiing a muralist for a section of highway wall along Route 195 in East Providence. Please see below for more information and where to find a copy of the RFQ.

The Department of Transportation is seeking proposals from qualified outdoor Muralists for professional services related to the painting of a mural on a wall along Interstate 195 in East Providence. This is part of a project spearheaded by the Governor’s office, in which RISCA has been involved in providing input and feedback.

The mural design has been selected by a committee and is included in the RFP, which can be found here. This project needs to be completed by May 25, 2012.

A Pre-Proposal Meeting to review the RFP and ask questions of DOT staff is set for March 27, 2012 at 9:00 AM at the Rhode Island Department of Transportation – Traffic Management Center Conference Room located at 2 Capitol Hill, Providence, RI 02903.
