Providence Business News outlines the development happening in and around the 195 Land in the Jewelry District
The 195 Redevelopment District Commission will discuss development guidelines for Parcels 14, 27, 28, 37, 34, 35, and 41; the RIPTA DTC, and issues related to the Fane Tower at their November 14th meeting.
Ruggerio vowed to introduce legislation next year “that removes some of the impediments to redeveloping the rest of our former highway land by granting more authority to the I-195 Commission, so the city doesn’t stand in the way of progress.”
A regular meeting of the I-195 Redevelopment District Commission will be held at Rhode Island Commerce Corporation, 315 Iron Horse Way, Suite 101, Providence, Rhode Island, on THURSDAY, OCTOBER 4, 2018, beginning at 5:00 P.M.
The I-195 Redevelopment District Commission meets on August 28th.
City Council’s Committee on Ordinances will hold a public hearing on text change and change in zoning map for the property located on Assessor’s Plat 20, Lot 397 (250 Dyer Street). The proposed development is commonly referred to as the “Fane Tower” or “Hope Point Tower.”

The I-195 Redevelopment District Commission reviews plans by Post Road Residential, Spencer Providence, and The Carpionato Group for Parcels 2, 5, and 6 at their May 9th meeting.
The Carpionato Group proposes 4 mixed-use buildings across parcels 2, 5, and 6 on the east side of the Providence River.
Post Road Residential proposes a 160-unit mixed-use residential building for Parcel 5 of the 195 District.
Proposal by Spencer Providence, LLC to build a hotel, mixed-use retail building, and rowhouses on 195 District Parcels 2 and 5 east of the Providence River.
The 195 Commission will review and take public comment on proposals for parcels 2, 5, and 6 at their April 11th meeting.
The 195 Commission reviews parks and the sale of Parcel 42 to the Fane Organization at their March 29th meeting.
This action moves this project further along, but it is far from a done deal. The zoning approvals need to be made to reconfigure the lot and allow the height to go way beyond what is allowed by zoning.
